Paddy Caton

Although Paddy is amongst the smallest of our residents at Copabella, he appears entirely unaware of it. A Connemarra, he and his owner Elayne Verner regularly come home bearing ribbons after their dressage and show outings.

In 2010, Paddy campaigned with Julia while Elayne recovered from a broken arm, and he fast became a crowd favourite, with wins at Maitland in the 80cm and 90cm classes. He then graduated to 1.05m classes and continued to rise effortlessly to the occasion. In May, he finished 2nd in his Prelim class at Camden Eventing on his dressage score of 76%.

In 2011, both Elayne and Suzie Willis notched up more successes with wins and places to 1.05m at several of the big shows on the circuit, but these days Paddy is happy enough to keep all four feet on the ground, and bring home Champion Connemara Pony prizes from breed shows as well as continue with his dressage training.

Paddy moved to the Central Coast with Elayne in 2019.
