Lanaken CSI2*

Que Sera.

Julia had one of those totally rare less than perfect days at Lanaken yesterday. It began with the queen of careful Camilla taking out a back rail on an oxer in the 1.40, but jumping an otherwise perfect round well within time.
Next it was a big step up for Que Sera in his first 1.45 Grand Prix, and it was a challenging track. It looked like he had it in the bag until he stumbled landing after a big vertical, and then the pair could not regain balance and momentum in time to get through the airy tough double combination straight after, without a few rails and time faults.
Finally it was Vegas's turn in the 1.40 two-phase, by which time his rider was feeling the strain just a little. He looked entirely at home as he does, but had a few rails, and is now looking forward to a day or two off. There are two more shows at Lanaken, the next one starting tomorrow, at which Julia will be riding Vedor as well as Tresor and Blue while Georgie is in Australia.
