Gunnedah Showjumping Festival
The show got underway yesterday in less than ideal conditions, with several showers affecting the footing. Still, Jill Waddy and Vindication soldiered on to finish 2nd in their 65+ 1 metre class. And Nellie Waters rode Julia's wonderful old young rider campaigner Rivoli Panther to a win in the 1.05-10 class. Other Copabella horses posted clear rounds, but did not jump off due to poor conditions.
The footing today was pretty heavy-going and several shoes were sucked off in the course of the day. Brooke had good clear rounds on Vermont in the 1.10-15 and Oaks Costanza in the 1.20-5. She also had lovely rounds on Cashmir in the 1.10-15, Cadiz in the 1.20-5 and again in the 1.30-5, and Visage in the 1.30-5, each with a cheap rail to put them out of the placings.
It was also pleasing to see Luke Brown and Vortex persevering in the 1.10-15 class despite having two shoes sucked off mid-course, and also Gemma Kennedy riding Vigil in the 1.20-5 class, not to mention several of Visage's other offspring competing successfully with respective owners in all rings. Meanwhile Nellie and Panther collected a 2nd place ribbon this time in the 1.10-15 class.
