About Copabella
(For more information on Services and People, please scroll down.)
Copabella was established in 1997 following the Hargreaves family's return to Australia after living abroad for almost 20 years. The initial aim was to create an equestrian facility of international standard, which would successfully combine training programmes for all the Olympic disciplines.
Along the way, other aims developed, including establishing a small but highly evolved breeding programme, using only the best bloodlines, top-quality mares and outstanding sires. This soon translated into sourcing our own stallion, and so Visage moved to Australia in 2003.
Our on-going aim is to produce, train and compete talented and also rideable horses in all the Olympic disciplines. The effort starts at grass-roots level with attention to detail: safe environments and handling procedures, comprehensive pasture-improvement programmes, top-quality feed, strict maintenance schedules for worming, farrier, dentist and vaccinations.
Our successful competition teams in showjumping, eventing and dressage are a testament to our standards, and we now have a growing herd of outstanding youngstock as well.
At Copabella in Arcadia, we offer a comprehensive range of services, including: full board and training in dressage as well as showjumping, lessons for visitors on their own or one of our horses, beginning at the beginning with basic lunge training, sourcing the right horse, show preparation and supervision. We also hold our own friendly competitions on a regular basis.
At Redleaf Lodge in Wilberforce, Julia and Chris Burton have joined forces to create a busy showjumping and eventing yard. Both bring an amazing level of dedication and talent to their training programmes, and this is evidenced by their regular success in the competition rings. They take horses on short and long-term training and competition, as well as providing lessons, clinics and supervision at shows.
